The water will also be pre-filtered to improve quality and to protect the entire hotel Tigaiga installation.

This facility is also intended to protect the environment: thanks to the new softener we plan to reduce the consumption of detergent (kitchen) and the need of fabric softener (laundry). We also hope to keep the machinery for more years (dishwashers, washing machines, ice machines, plumbing fixtures (minimizing the use of degreasing and descaling products).

However, their perusal and comments have been at the invitation of the Tenerife Cabildo which is keen to provide keen walkers with interesting and safe routes across the island. It’s estimated that around 12 per cent of visitors to Tenerife go hiking at some stage and it is the second most valued activity after visits to theme parks.
The Cabildo invited about 40 walkers from the European Ramblers’ Association to test out a route known as GR 131 which runs through eleven municipalities.
Tourism chief José Manuel Bermúdez said the association was the best in Europe and it was hoped the party of 40 would pass on their recommendations to its membership of around three million walkers.

Wednesday, 10 March 2010: Puerto de la Cruz, the original tourist resort in the Canary Islands, lost a number of visitors during 2009.

The report, presented by the Cabildo in February (…) urges rapid reforms and a thorough modernisation of hotels and infrastructures, something very difficult to envisage without massive external help in the current economic conditions. It also suggests clients coming to Puerto should be offered a special pampering treatment, such as that the Tigaiga Hotel gives its own clients, in order to bring back the necessary faithful, repeat visitors.
