A special mention was made by the jury to the application “Effi-e Play Green”, presented by Turisfera (Spain), pilot proyect in which the Hotel Tigaiga actively participates.

These applications touch upon related issues such as raising awareness of the impact that lifestyles have on the environment, monitoring energy and water consumption in hotels, promoting car sharing and sharing traditional and indigenous knowledge on biodiversity and conservation.

Get there: If you aren’t prepared to fly, factor in at least three days of travel if you plan to go overland from the UK to Tenerife. Take the Eurostar to Paris where you can catch a sleeper train to Madrid. From Madrid, the train will take you to Cadiz where regular ferries ply the waters between Spain and the Canary Islands. One big advantage of taking the ferry is the huge variety of marine life in the waters off Spain’s south coast. Short-finned pilot whales and bottlenose dolphins can both be seen from the deck once you reach the waters off Tenerife.

This facility is also intended to protect the environment: thanks to the new softener we plan to reduce the consumption of detergent (kitchen) and the need of fabric softener (laundry). We also hope to keep the machinery for more years (dishwashers, washing machines, ice machines, plumbing fixtures (minimizing the use of degreasing and descaling products).
