Regina Maris left Amsterdam for 6 months sailing with SCHOOL AT SEA: an interesting journey via Canary Islands, Caribean, Panama, Cuba, Azores and back to Amsterdam.
“The present school system offers too few extracurricular activities. Students don’t, for instance, come into contact with nature” says Monique Touw, instigator of the School At Sea project. This is why today, the Dutch sailing ship’s crew members joined by thirty secondary school students and teachers enjoyed a tour around Tigaiga hotel subtropical gardens on their way to America!

Today, on the World Tourism Day, the Hotel Tigaiga held an Open Day during which students from the British School of Tenerife were invited to see the living environment of the hospitality industry.
The purpose of this day is to raise awareness on the role of tourism within the international community and to demonstrate how it affects social, cultural, political and economic values worldwide.

The first meeting after the merge of Trinity School and the British Yeoward School forming the new BRITISH SCHOOL OF TENERIFE took place at the Tigaiga.
After organizing the starting conference all present had time for casual talks during the coffee-break in our gardens.
We wish all 581 pupils a good start to this new academic year!

The Hotel Tigaiga accepted one of the
British Yeoward School students on work placement as we have done since the beginning of this educational initiative. As in previous years, the placements start the second week in June.
This year Eva, a student from year 11 who had shown particular interest in a work placement in a tourism environment, tri-lingual in English, Spanish and German, cooperated very helpfully with our restaurant staff, reception, housekeeping, kitchen and gardeners.

This month several student groups had the opportunity to learn about the hospitality industry firsthand: we were happy to welcome the
- scholars from Hotelfachschule Bad Ischl (Austria),
- pupils from Centro de Formación Ocupacional “Adjala” Fundación Insert and
- undergraduates studying Business Administration in the IES
Santa Úrsula.
