The STARMUS FESTIVAL is a unique scientific, artistic and musical event that will take place in Tenerife,  an astronomical paradise in Spain.

The Festival, held between 21 and 26 March, 2011, is the brainchild of Dr. Garik Israelian, an astrophysicist at the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (Canarian Astrophysics Institute, IAC) and is timed to honour the legendary Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, who became the first man in space fifty years ago.

In the category “Improvement and landscape integration in business premises” the jury members unanimously awarded a Special Mention to the Hotel Tigaiga.

According to the jury this is a  recognition for the efforts and trajectory of this company in landscape conservation and sustainable use of natural resources.

The awards ceremony was held last Friday at the Salon Noble of the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife.

The biggest collection of bike routes on the web includes active ways to discover Tenerife.

At  www.bikemap.net/route/734463 a nice route takes you from the beach Playa del Socorro to the town of Tigaiga, part of Los Realejos.  Reverse profile is also possible for those who prefer to travel downhill!
