Wednesday, 10 March 2010:  Puerto de la Cruz, the original tourist resort in the Canary Islands, lost a number of visitors during 2009.

The report, presented by the Cabildo in February (…) urges rapid reforms and a thorough modernisation of hotels and infrastructures, something very difficult to envisage without massive external help in the current economic conditions. It also suggests clients coming to Puerto should be offered a special pampering treatment, such as that the Tigaiga Hotel gives its own clients, in order to bring back the necessary faithful, repeat visitors.

New televisions in all rooms

televIn each Tigaiga room the new Panasonic television TX-L26 now offers nearly 80 inches screen size, which is among the best in its class.

More TV and radio programmes have also been added.

Hotel Tigaiga in Google Street View

mapsGoogle Street View is a feature of Google Maps that provides horizontal and vertical panoramic views for many streets and buildings in the world including the Hotel Tigaiga.

Coverage is shown by dragging an orange “pegman” icon from its position, onto a map of any scale.

In Puerto de la Cruz, street view images appear after zooming in beyond the highest zooming level in maps and satellite images, and also by dragging a “pegman” icon onto the Tigaiga hotel location on the map. [ Continue reading ... ]

TUI Holly & TUI Environment Awards 2009

hollly09bIn 15 consecutive years, the hotel Tigaiga once again receives the award Holly in 2009. This award, given by TUI, is based on the recognition and satisfaction from customers of the German tour operator.

Furthermore, for the 13th time since its creation, the hotel Tigaiga also wins TUI Environmental Champion this year. This award, also given by the biggest tour operator,  is based in the areas of eco-hotel management (including issues such as energy management, environmental and social engagement, communication and staff training).

TUI Holly award goes to Tigaiga again

holly081.JPGFor the fourthteenth time in a row the TUI Holly Award went to the Tigaiga. Out of the 12,000 hotels TUI offers, the ‘Oscar’ in the holiday hotel business was awarded to the 100 best and most popular hotels. As the results in guest questionnaires showed, what especially matters for a winning hotel is service-based trade, ranking the hotel highly from a customers’ point of view.
